Renewable Energy 4 Devon (RE4D) aims to maximise the opportunities for local economic benefits and business growth amongst renewable energy companies by increasing the demand for and deployment of smaller scale renewable energy installations while assisting SMEs and communities to reduce their energy costs. RE4D offers advice and support from initial enquiry to installation, including: renewable energy technology options, sources of funding and planning issues, offering a free and independent service to businesses, households, communities, schools and the public sector.
Currently RE4D covers West Devon, South Hams, Torridge, North Devon, Mid-Devon, East Devon, Exeter and Teignbridge. .
The project provides:

- Free independent expert advisors on RE technologies
RE4D project partners are:
Devon Association for Renewable Energy (DARE) was formed in 2000 with an aim to promote the development of renewable energy in Devon. DARE operates across all sectors and all technologies and is a membership organisation which you can join to support R.E in Devon. As a "not for profit" organisation DARE provides advice & low-cost feasibility assessments on all aspects of renewable energy. DARE also manages the CRI (Community Renewables Initiative) across Devon & Cornwall.
DARE is providing renewable energy sector support, detailed technical advice and community sector mentoring for RE4D.
Devon County Council is a funder of RE4D and hosts the finance and project management roles, coordinating all the partners. Making Devon the 'greenest' county in England is DCC's commitment and RE4D is part of the work to ensure this continues to be the case, supporting the growth of RE businesses, in conjunction with improving the "triple bottom line" of organisations installing RE technologies.
Global Action Plan is an independent national charity committed to encouraging the public to be more environmentally sustainable with an office based in Devon and an existing programme of work with schools and businesses in the region as a delivery partner for EnVision. As a partner in RE4D GAP is responsible for client support for local authorities, SMEs, larger businesses and schools.
Trans-Send is a community-based environmental organisation, managed and operated by volunteers. Sustainable-Energy-North-Devon, in full its objects are ‘To promote sustainable living and the use of renewable energy by undertaking community based projects and providing information, training, education and advisory services.
Trans-send's role in RE4D is to provide client advice and mentoring within North Devon.
Centre for Energy and the Environment (CEE) at theUniversity of Exeter is the delivery partner in the South West Energy and Environment Group, a partnership of local public authorities in the South West including Devon County Council, Torbay Council, Plymouth City Council and Devon and Cornwall Police Authority. The Centre works on a broad range of projects and its areas of expertise include knowledge transfer, research and teaching in energy/environmental issues including renewable energy and low energy buildings. CEE is involved in RE4D in a technical advisory capacity.
Energy Action Devon is a not for profit, charitable business set up in 1993 which aims to promote and support the sustainable use of energy in all sectors. EAD is the managing agent of the Devon hub of the South West Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre one of a national network of advice centres set up by the Energy Saving Trust, which is one of the UK's leading organisations addressing the damaging effects of climate change. The Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation funded by the government and the private sector.
EAD is the first point of contact for RE4D enquiries.
